A fumed silica thickener for resin systems
Cabosil is a fumed silica additive used to thicken epoxy- and polyester-based coatings and improve handling. It is an additive to a compatible system, not a ready-to-use resin or a substitute for the specified hardener.
The required consistency depends on the application and the resin being used. Identify the base product and follow its additive guidance instead of treating all resin formulations as interchangeable.
Compare the box and bucket correctly
The available packages are a box labeled 5 lb and a bucket labeled 5 qt. One is stated by weight and the other by volume, so the matching number does not make them equivalent quantities. Do not convert between them without verified product density information.
Choose the package around the manufacturer-approved formulation and the amount of work planned. Check the individual product row for current ordering details.
Plan handling before opening the package
Consult the product safety data sheet for powder handling, exposure controls and protective equipment. Use the resin manufacturer instructions for introducing fillers and for maintaining the specified resin-to-hardener relationship.
